It was originally known as Cockletown due to its abundance of cornflowers also called blue cockles. Merchants used it as a significant stop along the travel routes from Philadelphia to Lancaster.

Over time, the village gained the name Reeseville because of local landowners, until the Pennsylvania Railroad rebranded it Berwyn in 1877.

Today, well-preserved remnants of that era still linger around town. Ensuring residents don’t just live here, they can relive history as they become enriched with stories deep in the roots of Berwyn’s past.
